Portaiture by Brian Keeler

Brian Keeler is accepting a limited number of portrait commissions. This is an opportunity to acquire a portrait from the deft hand of a master artist. Brian is known for quickly capturing a likeness in even a 1-2 hour sketch in charcoal, pastel, or oil.

The fine art of portraiture as practiced by Brian Keeler honors the tradition of realistic portrait art. He has been drawing and painting portraits professionally since he was a young man before his training at the York Academy of Arts and Keystone College. Subsequent training has been gleaned with study from contemporary masters such as Daniel Green, Nelson Shanks and Jack Beal. Brian has done formal portraits as well as many intriguing informal studies of people going about the daily activities of their life or profession.

A portrait can be as simple as a 11" x 14" charcoal sketch or as elaborate as a full length oil painting.  For many people a sketch can form the basis for the decision to then commission a more detailed portrait.  Each sketch is a standalone work of art.

The fee for an 11'x14" is $350 and can be done live or from a high quality photograph.  Sittings are limited.  There are three available on December 6 and 7 at North Star Gallery - Saturday 11am and 3pm, and Sunday at 1pm.  Please contact us at 607-323-7684 to reserve your sitting.  Your sketch will be complete for Christmas giving as a unique and is sure to be a treasured gift.
