* The alla prima oil portrait- a class and demo- North Star fine Art on the Commons. Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.

Brian Keeler will be demonstrating the technique of the one-sitting or alla prima oil portrait, working from a model. Learn about the process of painting the portrait the human spirit and articulating the form and character of the person. Keeler has been painting and sketching portraits for many years.


The demo is at 6 on Friday night and open to the public and part of the class for students. $20 for the demo only. The class is Saturday from 10 am to 4p,. $100.

* Celtic Callings and Atlantic Arias- is the current featured show at the North Star. The exhibit features recent studio and plein air studies by Brian Keeler of Ireland, Scotland and New England. 


The exhibit goes until June 30th. Gallery hours are (usually) tu to sat from noon to 5. Call or email ahead please to make an appointment. And preview the websites to get acquainted with the paintings in the current show and of other subjects.


Something New- Comedy in the Gallery! April 27th from 7 to 9. Don't Tell Comedy- a unique collaboration of the arts. Our mission at "Don't Tell Comedy" is to create unforgettable nights, where laughter and culture meet in intimate settings.

* Opening May 10th at the West End Gallery in Corning, NY.  Brian Keeler's new work of Seneca and Keuka Lakes will be featured in an exhibit with the work of Treacy Zeigler of Newfield, NY

Keeler has created a new body of work portraying the landscapes of the Finger Lakes with an emphasis on the beauty of the light and topography of these areas.

* The Susquehanna Summer Solstice Fest- June 17-23 at French Azilum, PA.

As Keeler is one of the founding members and current artistic director of this great event this summer, he is hoping you'll mark it on your calendar. Headlining the entertainment is Kate Taylor (sister of James Taylor.) She'll play on Saturday night to top off a day featuring women in music, which is being called "Chanteuse Saturday- Woman of the Arts." Other performers include; Li'l ANne and Hot Cayenne, Lindsay Gordon. Clarence Spady, The Hot Foot Club of Philadelphia, Zingology, Joe Jencks, Joe Crookston and many more.


The fest is a truly unique celebration of the arts- including a plein air painting event, live music all weekend, dancing, demonstrations in crafts and art, music workshops, historical presentations, tours of the LaPorte House, environmental talks, poet and author talks. a mural project for children, a canoe trip, kite day, hot air balloon rides along with great food and beverages- all at a beautiful and historic setting.
